I. Air Cargo – Commercial Air Freight
Air Cargo is the form of transporting goods via commercial airlines. In this model, the shipper books space with the airline, completes export customs procedures, and delivers the goods to the airport warehouse for processing. Upon arrival at the destination airport, the consignee completes import customs procedures and transports the goods to their warehouse.
AMI provides end-to-end support for businesses in:
• Booking space with reputable airlines.
• Preparing full sets of import-export documents.
• Professional customs clearance.
• Working directly with airport warehouses and 24/7 shipment tracking.
AMI’s Strategic Partners: We cooperate extensively with major airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, EVA Air, Emirates, Qatar Airways… and work directly at major warehouses across the country such as SCSC, TCS, NCTS, ACS, ALS.
Air Cargo is typically applicable for:
• Official shipments (both commercial and non-commercial).
• Medium to large volume cargo.
• Shipments requiring strict document control.
• Time-sensitive shipments.
II. Air Express – International Courier Service
Air Express is the form of transporting goods through international courier companies such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, SF. In this model, the shipper books the service with the courier. The courier unit picks up the goods at the warehouse, performs export customs clearance, consolidates the cargo for air transport, performs import customs clearance, and delivers to the recipient's door (door-to-door).
However, in some cases, the courier unit may refuse to perform customs clearance (especially for specialized goods, goods requiring licenses, or high-value items). In such instances, the shipper or recipient must complete customs procedures independently to continue transportation or receive the goods.
Businesses can utilize forwarder/logistics units like AMI to:
• Consult on the suitable mode (Cargo or Express).
• Book services with courier companies.
• Support customs procedures.
• Handle cargo detention situations.
• Optimize costs and transit time.
AMI cooperates with courier companies: DHL, FedEx, UPS. Air Express is suitable for:
• Samples, gifts, and non-commercial goods.
• Files and documents.
• Small shipments.
• Goods requiring simplified processes.

V. FAQs – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR AIR FREIGHT
Is freight calculated by actual weight or volume? According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations, freight will be calculated based on the higher figure between the Actual Weight (Gross Weight) and the Volumetric Weight. This is called Chargeable weight. Standard conversion formula:
• Volumetric Weight (kg) = Length x Width x Height (cm) / 6000 for Air Cargo.
• Or divide by 5000 for Air Express.
What is the maximum package size for air freight? The maximum size depends on the type of aircraft (passenger aircraft or freighter). Generally, packages should not exceed a height of 160 cm for wide-body aircraft. For oversized cargo, AMI will consult on transportation solutions using specialized freighters.
Do my goods need an import-export license? It depends on the HS Code of the item and the regulations of the destination country. AMI will assist customers in checking the detailed list of goods to determine if the item requires specialized licenses, quality inspection, or conformity announcement.
Do I need to buy cargo insurance? Although the air freight process is very safe, to maximize the protection of your interests against force majeure risks, AMI encourages customers to purchase cargo insurance. We support connecting optimal insurance packages with a protection level of up to 110% of the invoice value.
What is the estimated delivery time?
• Direct Service: 1 – 3 working days.
• Transit Service: 3 – 7 working days (Cost-optimized).
Are there any other costs besides the quotation? At AMI, we understand that cost management is a top priority for businesses. AMI commits to providing comprehensive and transparent quotations from the consultation stage. Beyond freight services, we also support detailed estimates of warehouse fees and other expected surcharges, helping customers be fully proactive in budget planning.
